Colombia survivors' pension 2026
The survivors' pension (Law 100 of 1993 art. 46 and art. 48) covers beneficiaries when an affiliate with ≥ 50 weeks or an old-age/disability pensioner dies. The affiliate amount is a percentage of IBL, with a 1 SMLMV floor.
With IBL $2,000,000 and 500 weeks: 45% = $900,000 → floor $1,750,905. With IBL $4,000,000 and the same weeks: $1,800,000. If the deceased already received a $2,000,000 mesada: $2,000,000.

affiliate ≥ 50 weeks: 45% IBL + 2% per 50 weeks after 500; 75% cap; 1 SMLMV floor. Pensioner: 100% of the mesada.

Common mistakes
- Using the disability table (1.5% / 54%) instead of art. 48's 2%.
- Skipping the 1 SMLMV floor when IBL is low.
- Recalculating 45% when the deceased already received a pension.
