Colombia disability pension 2026
The common-origin disability pension (Law 100 of 1993 art. 39 and art. 40) requires PCL ≥ 50% and ≥ 50 contributed weeks. The amount is a percentage of IBL, with a 1 SMLMV floor.
With IBL $2,000,000, PCL 50% and 500 weeks: 45% = $900,000 → floor $1,750,905. With IBL $4,000,000 under the same conditions: $1,800,000.

Formula
if PCL ≥ 50% and weeks ≥ 50: 45% IBL + 1.5% per 50 weeks after 500 (PCL 50–66) or 54% + 2% per 50 weeks after 800 (PCL ≥ 66); 75% cap; 1 SMLMV floor
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| 2026 SMLMV (floor) | $1,750,905 |
| IBL $2,000,000 / PCL 50 / 500 weeks | $1,750,905 |
| IBL $4,000,000 / PCL 50 / 500 weeks | $1,800,000 |
| IBL $4,000,000 / PCL 50 / 1000 weeks | $2,400,000 |
| IBL $4,000,000 / PCL 70 / 800 weeks | $2,160,000 |
| IBL $4,000,000 / PCL 70 / 2000 weeks (75% cap) | $3,000,000 |
Common mistakes
- Confusing it with temporary disability (IBC days, not a lifetime pension).
- Using 45% without the 1 SMLMV floor when IBL is low.
- Adding the 1.5% extra without 50 additional weeks after 500.
Art. 39: PCL ≥ 50% and ≥ 50 contributed weeks (common origin). Not ARL and not old-age pension.
