Honduras Employment Settlement Calculator
When an employment relationship ends in Honduras, the settlement brings together severance (cesantía), pending vacation, thirteenth month and fourteenth month proportional shares, plus notice if applicable. This calculator estimates each item in lempiras from your monthly salary, seniority, and pending months of each benefit, giving you a reference figure before negotiating your exit.
With a salary of L 25,000, 4 years and 3 months of seniority, 10 pending vacation days, 6 months of thirteenth month, and 6 months of fourteenth month:
- Estimated severance: L 106,250 (one month of salary per year of service)
- Pending vacation: L 8,333.33
- Proportional thirteenth month: L 12,500
- Proportional fourteenth month: L 12,500
- Estimated total settlement: L 139,583.33
Severance equals one month of salary per year worked: it grows directly with seniority.
Formula
Cesantía = monthly salary × (years + months/12 of service)
Vacation = (salary ÷ 30) × pending days Thirteenth month = salary × (period months ÷ 12) Fourteenth month = salary × (period months ÷ 12) Notice = salary × months of notice
In Honduras, cesantía is one month of salary per year of service (prorated by months). The thirteenth month is paid in December and the fourteenth in July; on exit, each is paid proportionally.
Step-by-step example (default values)
- Seniority = 4 years 3 months = 4.25 years
- Cesantía = 25,000 × 4.25 = L 106,250
- Daily salary = 25,000 ÷ 30 = L 833.33; vacation = 833.33 × 10 = L 8,333.33
- Thirteenth = 25,000 × 6/12 = L 12,500; fourteenth = L 12,500
- Total = 106,250 + 8,333.33 + 12,500 + 12,500 = L 139,583.33
Scenario table (same engine logic)

| 4y 3m | L 106,250 | L 8,333.33 | L 12,500 | L 12,500 | L 139,583.33 |

Reading the result
Honduran cesantía rewards tenure: each year of service adds a full month of salary, so the settlement total grows quickly with seniority. The two annual benefits (thirteenth month in December, fourteenth in July) are paid proportionally to the time accrued since the last cut, and pending vacation is liquidated at the daily salary.
If the company did not give notice, you can add the corresponding months in the calculator to compare scenarios. The final amount also depends on the termination type (resignation vs. dismissal) and current Labor Code rules.
This tool is an educational estimate, not an official calculation. Cesantía, notice, and proportional shares can vary by termination type, collective agreement, and current regulations. Validate your case with the Ministry of Labor, your payroll, or labor advice before signing agreements.
