Educational Labor Code model only (1 month per year on unjust dismissal + proportional benefits). CTR default: Q6,000 · 2024-03-01→2026-03-01 · 0 vacation → resign Q6,500 / dismiss Q18,500. Not legal advice. Sep 2026.

Resignation vs dismissal: how much does the total change?

When a job ends in Guatemala, the package is not the same if you resign or if there is unjust dismissal. The large gap is usually severance (indemnización) (about 1 month of salary per year worked in this calculator's educational model).

Quick answer (form default)

Q6,000 · 2024-03-01 → 2026-03-01 · 0 unused vacation →
Resignation Q6,500 · Dismissal Q18,500 · gap Q12,000 (= Art. 82 severance).

FAQ

Under the usual voluntary-resignation model, no. On the hero Q6,000 × 2 years, resignation closes at Q6,500 (aguinaldo Q2,000 + Bono 14 Q4,500) with no severance. Still check unused vacation.

Q12,000: dismissal Q18,500 minus resignation Q6,500. That gap is exactly the engine's Art. 82 severance.

In this calculator, yes: both scenarios share benefits and only dismissal adds severance. Real cases may include other items or settlements.

Do not assume the same package. Justified dismissal has different rules: confirm the legal ground with counsel.
