Colombia rest-day premium: 90% in 2026
CST article 179 (Law 2466 of 2025) pays work on a mandatory rest day or public holiday with a 100% recargo on ordinary wage, in proportion to hours worked, without prejudice to pay for a completed week.
The roll-out is gradual: 80% from 1 Jul 2025, 90% from 1 Jul 2026, and 100% on 1 Jul 2027. This page freezes the 90% in force on 3 September 2026.
With wage COP 2,000,000 and 8 hours on a Sunday, the educational ordinary hour is COP 10,989.01 and the 90% premium is COP 79,120.88.
Not legal advice. The 90% is extra; it does not replace weekly wages. It is not art. 168 overtime and not Mexico’s 25% Sunday premium. Article 179 does not print “182”: that is 42 h/week × 52 ÷ 12 (Law 2101 from 15 Jul 2026).
Ordinary hour = monthly wage ÷ 182 Premium = ordinary hour × 0.90 × hours worked
| Case | Wage | Hours | 90% premium |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8-hour Sunday | COP 2,000,000 | 8 | COP 79,120.88 |
| Half day | COP 2,000,000 | 4 | COP 39,560.44 |
| Zero hours | COP 2,000,000 | 0 | COP 0 |
Art. 179 paragraph 2: “dominical” means mandatory rest day (it need not be Sunday).
