Colombia overtime: +25% by day and +75% at night
Supplementary work is time beyond the ordinary or legal maximum day (CST art. 159). Article 168 sets exclusive premiums (they do not stack): daytime extra 25% and night extra 75% on the ordinary daytime hour.
From 15 July 2026 the maximum week is 42 hours (Law 2101 of 2021, art. 3). Art. 167A (Law 2466 of 2025) caps extras at 2 hours a day and 12 a week.
With wage COP 2,000,000 and 10 daytime extras, the educational ordinary hour is COP 10,989.01 and overtime pay is COP 137,362.60.
Not legal advice. Article 168 does not print “182”: it is 42 × 52 ÷ 12. Sunday/holiday premium (90% from 1 Jul 2026, art. 179) is out of scope. Hours beyond 12 per week are not priced. Independent contractors are out of scope.
Ordinary hour = monthly wage ÷ 182 Day extra hour = ordinary hour × 1.25 Night extra hour = ordinary hour × 1.75
